Used to rid oneself of block that was damaging, or denied memories.
Casting Directions for ‘Memory Rite’
The assumption for this rite is that we have all blocked memories in ourselves, that we can’t face, or won’t. They may include everything from being teased at school by our ‘friends’ to emotional, physical, or mental abuse by parents, loved ones, etc.. The purpose of this rite is to draw these hidden memories up into a closed box, open it in a manner like the Pandora myth, and meet, greet, and make peace with the memories, as they can be very detrimental to a person’s ego growth if kept hidden. Rather than finding hope in our boxes however, we will find peace with oneself, and acceptance, and one’s past.
This rite is good for anyone, even people who assume they’ve had childhoods that are perfect. You don’t always realize until it’s too late the past is dragging you down, and you would be amazed by what you can learn about yourself!
The box should have a lid. Paint the polished black, or line it with an irregular reflective coating, such as aluminum foil. The outside should be decorated with any drawings, pictures, or whatever one might want to help trigger childhood memories, and to help evoke a childlike state of mind.
Begin with an opening of any sort you feel comfortable with. Light candles and incense as desired.
State the intent:
It’s my will to greet my past, for what it is and take it.
Recite the invocation:
I call the gift to be met by the past,
That the future could be bright.
I bring myself forth from the dark,
And hold me.
Let not the last control my present,
Let not my future be dark.
I and I meet and greet with open arms,
and move back into the light.
One person sits keeping it shut. While the rest of the participants circle around insulting, degrading her she concentrates on the box. At this time, the teasing shouldn’t be too personal. The box opens, and gazes inside, seeing anything she sees when she reaches gnosis. At this time, a barbarous, and more personal attitude should be reached by the taunting. This continues until they close their box again.
The box then is dealt with in whatever manner she sees fit. It may be as it could be a great idea to do this more than once, destroyed, left open in a spot of sun, kept for future applications.
Until the group has a turn, when the first person is finished, her place is taken by another.
